Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie Rift Started Two Years Ago  10/23/05

Former best friends Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie's feuding started two years ago, according to Richie herself.

Childhood pals Hilton and Richie leapt to international fame in late 2003 when they starred in reality TV show The Simple Life, but mysteriously fell out in January (05) and haven't been seen together since.

Despite filming series two and three together during 2004, Richie tells American magazine Jane, their friendship began to deteriorate in early 2004.

Richie, 24, says, "We really haven't been friends in probably about two years."

While Hilton has mentioned the falling out on several talk shows, Richie refuses to discuss their broken relationship in public, explaining, "I know that Paris loves to talk about it and that stuff, but that's just not my style."

When asked about recent rumors the pair are close to reconciling, Richie says, "No not at this point."

Hilton has previously blamed Richie for the rift, declaring, "Nicole knows what she did."
