Huffman Desperate For Career as a Hairdresser
10/24/05
Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman was so disillusioned with
acting before she landed her role in the hit TV series, she was preparing
to start a new career as a hairdresser.
As a struggling upcoming actress, Huffman was frustrated at only
landing minor speaking parts in box office flops, and when she moved from
New York City to Los Angeles with her actor husband William H Macy eight
years ago, she vowed to ditch acting for good.
She recalls, "I just decided to give up. I was like, 'I can't take
this anymore. I just wanted to be hairdresser.'
"I even went so far as to get an application form from a beauty
school. I was sure my career was dead."
But soon after the move Huffman landed her first big role in US sitcom
Sports Night, and a part in 2003 mini-series Out of Order followed before
she secured the role of Lynette Scavo in 2004.
