Craig Ferguson to Host The 32nd Annual Peoples Choice Awards  10/28/05

CRAIG FERGUSON TO HOST "THE 32ND ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS," TUESDAY, JAN. 10 ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

Craig Ferguson ("The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson") will host THE 32ND ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS, to be broadcast live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Tuesday, Jan. 10 (9:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network. The first awards show of 2006 honors favorite performers in television, motion pictures and music. Nominees in each category will be announced at a press conference on Thursday, Nov. 10 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in the Blossom Room. The voting web site will launch in tandem. Votes can be placed at www.pcavote.com from Nov. 10 through the broadcast, when the winners will be announced.

Craig Ferguson was born in Glasgow, Scotland and got his start in the entertainment industry as a drummer for some of the worst punk bands in the U.K., a profession he held for several years. Following his musical stint, he began bartending in a local pub in Glasgow where he was introduced to Michael Boyd, the artistic director of The Tron Theatre in Glasgow, who persuaded Ferguson to give acting a go. After several low paying acting gigs, Ferguson discovered he had a knack for comedy and was soon the star of his own BBC television show, "The Ferguson Theory." After several stints on the English comedy circuit, Ferguson brought his act to America in 1995 to star with Betty White and Marie Osmond in the short-lived ABC comedy "Maybe This Time." After the show ended, ABC decided to add the talented Scotsman to "The Drew Carey Show," playing Drew Carey's boss, Nigel Wick, from 1996-2003.

THE 32ND ANNUAL PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS is being produced by Procter & Gamble Productions, Inc. The People's Choice Awards is fully sponsored by products of Procter & Gamble, which is represented by MediaVest Worldwide, Inc., supervisors of the production. Carol Donovan ("GQ Men of the Year Awards") is the executive producer. Central Talent Booking is the talent consultant. Bruce Gowers ("The American Music Awards") is directing the special.
