Jake Gyllenhaal's Milk Licking Beginnings  10/31/05

Jarhead star Jake Gyllenhaal made an unconventional acting debut as a child, when he licked milk from bowl as his sister Maggie performed in their parents' house.

Gyllenhaal admits he was so desperate to join his older sibling in a performance she'd put on for dinner guests, he happily accepted the only role that was available to him.

He says, "My sister put on this play of Cats while my parents were having a dinner party. I wanted to be in it, and she said, 'Well, we'll get a bowl of milk and you can lick it out of the bowl.'

"And, no kidding, I sat on the side while they did the whole thing, licking milk."
