Scarlett Johansson Slams Hip Charity Campaigners  10/2/06

Scarlett Johansson has hit out at stars who support charities to boost their own image.

The Lost in Translation actress is fronting global Aids campaign Red to raise money for women and children in Africa, but insists that her support has "nothing to do with (her) career".

She explains, "Somebody gave me a great phrase yesterday - 'idiot wind'. It's what comes out of your mouth.

"I think certain people are guilty of it by supporting something when they haven't done the proper research. You're always going to have people who hop on the bandwagon when something is hip.

"It's important for people in the public eye to advocate what we believe in.

We're given this voice and we should use it."
