Jackman Thrilled by Grandma's Heart-Stopping Letter
10/23/06
Movie hunk Hugh Jackman felt sure he had been served a summons as he
read a letter from an elderly fan who had been taken seriously ill after
he carried her to her seat at a show.
The actor was starring in stage musical The Boy From Oz in a stadium in
his native Australia recently when he chose to escort an enthusiastic fan
and her grandmother from the back row to the front during the show.
Jackman quickly realized this wasn't a good idea when the elderly woman
grabbed a cane and shuffled towards him.
So, rather than halt the live show, the quick-thinking Aussie insisted
the grandma jump on his back and he carried her to her new seat.
It was the highpoint of a great evening, but then Jackman's heart
stopped when he received a letter from the elderly lady weeks later.
He explains, "She told me that that evening... she was
administered (sic) into hospital and her heart stopped three times.
"I'm reading this letter... ready to turn and see a summons to
court or something, and she just said, 'I don't want you to feel bad; I'm
only telling you this because you're the first man in my life who has
stopped my heart.'"
