A
Farmer is Helped Next Week on Extreme Makeover Home Edition 1/29/07
"EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION" COMES TO THE AID OF A FARMER
AND HIS FAMILY WHOSE HOME BURNED TO THE GROUND
Ty and the gang come to the aid of farmers Shawn and Amy Kibe of Tama
County, IA, by rebuilding their burned down home in a remarkable seven
days, on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 4
(7:00-8:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. (Rebroadcast. OAD
10/29/06)
In December 2004, life was good for the Kibe family, after moving from
the city to the country to fulfill Shawn's dream of being a farmer and
making a better life for his family of five. With life and business on the
farm flourishing, everything seemed perfect until a few days before
Christmas 2005, when their house caught fire. The Kibes returned home just
in time to see firemen removing their charred Christmas presents through
the broken windows. The family was forced to move into a tiny one-bedroom
rented camper in a trailer park that isn't big enough for camping, let
along living! The three boys split their time between sleeping on the
couch or outside in tents. And though it seems things couldn't get any
worse, the Kibes are about to lose their temporary home due to their
insurance policy. Their only option seems to be to move back to the city
and give up their farm.
The farm has not only given the Kibes a place to live; it's been their
salvation and livelihood. It's up to Ty and the gang to restore the Kibes
back to their beloved farm with a barn-raising of their own, "Extreme
Makeover: Home Edition"-style.
While Ty and the designers, local builder Hubbell Homes of Des Moines
and hundreds of volunteers and workers are rebuilding their home, the Kibe
family will go on vacation in the Caribbean.
The design team for this episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition" will feature team leader Ty Pennington and designers Paul
DiMeo, Ed Sanders, Paige Hemmis and Preston Sharp.
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," which has won back-to-back
Emmy Awards as Best Reality Program (non-competitive), is produced by
Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. Denise Cramsey is the
executive producer and David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA.
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is broadcast with Spanish
subtitles via secondary closed captioning. This program carries a TV-PG
