Former
Amazing Race Winner Receives "Serious Threats" Over Book
10/26/06
Former 'N SYNC singer Lance Bass has received serious threats over the
contents of his boyfriend's new book, which exposes the abuse he was
subjected to as a gay man in the US military.
In Here's What We'll Say: Growing Up, Coming Out, and the US Air Force
Academy, Amazing Race winner Reichen Lehmkuhl claims he was sexually
assaulted by straight military men after he 'came out'.
And the 32-year-old now alleges that he and Bass have been told their
lives are in danger in menacing communications they have received.
He says, "We have to be very protective. I am not going to hide.
"There are threats that come in from people who do not want me to
be so public and expose what is going on in the military."
And Bass and Lehmkuhl have passed on the more serious threats to the
FBI.
Lekhmuhl adds, "Everything is being covered so we feel safe."
In his book, Lekhmuhl recalls, "A bag was put over my head. I was
stripped of my clothes. I was forced to do things sexually with two other
male cadets.
"That's when you start having suicidal thoughts... and you start
saying, 'Oh my God, I am so stuck in this situation. I can't go to
anyone.'"
