JANET ELIMINATED FROM "AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL" ON THE CW

October 18, 2007 (Burbank, California) - Janet, an aesthetician from Bainbridge, Georgia, was the fourth girl eliminated during the ninth cycle of The CW's hit reality series “America's Next Top Model,” reducing the pool from 10 girls to 9.

The girls met posing instructor Benny Ninja at a gymnasium, where he taught them about posing through continuous movement. Benny asked each girl to jump on the trampoline, conveying emotion while in the air. Though several of the girls lacked grace, Janet was unable to successfully hit her poses during the practice.

Later, the girls arrived at an ice skating rink where they met with Editor-in-Chief of Seventeen magazine Ann Shokut, “America's Next Top Model” Cycle 6 winner Dani Evans and Benny Ninja. Their challenge was to portray a specific emotion given by the judges as they were held in the air by an ice skating partner. First, the girls learned several lifts from Olympic medalist and world champion ice skater Lloyd Eisler on solid ground, then they took to the ice. While most of the girls nailed their pose and emotion, Janet had trouble demonstrating “anger” while controlling her pose in air. “Janet's anger was all over the place, “Shokut said. “I'm not sure she knew what she was going for.”

The following day, Jay Manuel and photographer Mike Rosenthal greeted the girls for their photo shoot from the top of a high rise building in downtown Los Angeles. The girls had to portray high fashion gargoyles, and while most of the girls were able to get into character on their own, Jay had to give constant instructions to Janet throughout her shoot. “I don't know if Janet got the photo shoot,” Jay said. “I am not convinced that she could do it on her own without constant prodding to let go.”

During the judging panel, all of the judges agreed that Janet did not look like a model in her photo. When Ambreal and Janet found themselves in the bottom two, Tyra explained that while the judges felt they are both beautiful girls, they also need to be beautiful models. “One has this athletic, muscular body, but you need to be coached so much to get one good shot,” Tyra told Janet before eliminating her from the race to become “America's Next Top Model.”

In addition to a $100,000 contract with cosmetics giant CoverGirl, this year's prize package for the winner of The CW's “America's Next Top Model” will include a contract with Elite Model Management and a cover and six-page fashion spread in Seventeen magazine.

The ninth cycle of the hit reality series “America's Next Top Model” on The CW follows 13 young women as they attempt to prove they have what it takes to make it in the high-stress world of modeling. Banks, who created the show, also serves as executive producer along with Ken Mok (“Making the Band”) and Daniel Soiseth (“Hell's Kitchen”).

“America's Next Top Model” airs Wednesdays, (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on The CW.
