Nigel Lythgoe Seeks "Real Talent" on New American Band Show 10/20/07
American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe is launching a new U.S. talent show
in a bid to find the nation's next band.
Lythgoe will use his experience from American Idol to produce The Next Great American Band, which debuts on Friday (19Oct07). And the music mogul hopes to find artists of substance and not just style. He says, "We're not creating bands. We're sort of introducing talented bands to a television market. "If anything, that's where we failed with 'Idol' last year. We were more interested in how people wore their hair."
