Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay was stunned at the nice-guy tactics of his
Hell's Kitchen successor Marco Pierre White - because he wasn't always so
well-mannered.
White has become famous for his TV catchphrase, "Let me lead you
by the hand"
on the new season of the British reality TV show - but his behavior is
a far cry from the acid-tongued attacks Ramsay experienced working in the
45-year-old's kitchen at London restaurant Harvey's before he rose to
international fame in 2005.
He recalls, "In their day all those guys were bullies. You have to
be to make your name. It's part of the pressure. That's the job. To be the
best, you have to push and push. Marco used to be a savage.
"As for him doing Hell's Kitchen, well, they asked me first, but I
did it once and never again. He's welcome to my sloppy seconds."
