Music mogul Simon Cowell has defended his reputation as a sharp-tongued
critic - insisting he is only telling pop wannabes the truth when they
appear on British TV show, The X Factor.
The 48-year-old, who is known for his blunt criticisms of the reality
show contestants, claims he is simply doing the wannabes a favor by being
honest.
He says, "I'm only being myself on a TV show, I'm not an actor.
I've done it for a few years now, so people know that I'm honest. I think
a lot of people say: 'You're only saying what we're thinking at home.'
We're not stoning kittens here.
"I think if people thought I was being cruel, they would not watch
the show.
There's a difference between being honest and being gratuitously
rude."
