Mariah Carey 'Enjoying Married Life' 10/30/08

Mariah Carey has opened up about life with new husband Nick Cannon - insisting her marriage is "perfectly normal". The 38-year-old pop star wed Cannon in the Bahamas in April (08) after a six-week whirlwind romance.

The Hero hit maker is adamant that even though the pair walked down the aisle so soon after they began dating, the relationship is made to last. She says, "People were confused about the whole thing in the beginning - they were like 'oh what's going on?' because it was so fast. "But it's perfectly normal to us, because it just feels like this is how it was always supposed to be. We're best friends."

"It's all about maintaining that friendship and that closeness, it's about honesty and having a good time. Married life is great. Nick is a great person. He's very smart, he's very loving. We have fun - that's the thing. We just have a great time together."

And Carey insists she has become more domesticated since she became Mrs Cannon, admitting she has been trying out her skills in the kitchen. She adds, "I do cook a little bit - in the holidays I cook. My main dish is linguini with white clam sauce. I made him it and he liked it a lot which is great."
