DATE" GROOM
Series Moving To Tribune and Sinclair Broadcasting Stations in Major
Markets - Renewed In More Than 95% Of The U.S.
Los Angeles, September 7, 2005 - NBC Universal Domestic Television
Distribution's "Blind Date" kicks off its seventh season taking
a deeper look into relationships, hooking up daters in new comedic
scenarios and even daring to blindly set up one bride-to-be ready to take
the plunge.
Beginning September 26, "Blind Date's" seventh season is
expanding beyond the date in new and fresh ways, keeping the viewers
laughing with more humorous pop-ups and commentary than ever before. The
seventh season will feature the following themes:
* "Erica Gets Married" - One brave woman has set a date to
get married and enlisted the help of "Blind Date" to find the
most important part of the wedding...THE GROOM!
* Dinner Party - From wining and dining to food fighting, six fiery
singles heat up the kitchen with a celebrity chef on hand to help them
prepare a gourmet meal.
* Let Mom/Dad Choose - Daters leave the fate of their love connection
in the hands of their mom or dad.
* Speed Dating - Guys/girls actually get to choose their own date, but
there's a catch...the clock is ticking!
* Family Reunion - Every family has unique characters...wait until you
see this family's get together, Blind Date style.
"'Blind Date' is stepping out of the hot tub and focusing on its
comedic roots," said Barry Wallach, President, NBC Universal Domestic
Television Distribution. "'Blind Date' will highlight the hilarious
and awkward moments that come naturally with all kinds of new relationship
scenarios that will be explored including speed dating and a woman
determined and excited to find a groom through the show."
The original dating reality show, "Blind Date," has been
renewed in more than 95% of the country for the 05-06 season. Key
broadcasting partners include Tribune Broadcasting and the Sinclair
Broadcasting Stations. With the start of the new season, "Blind
Date" will have upgrades on WPIX-New York, KTLA-Los Angeles, WCIU-Chicago,
KNXV-Phoenix and KSTP-Minneapolis.
"With all these new dating scenarios, the humorous zingers and
pop-ups are funnier than ever," said executive producer, Tom Klein.
"Viewers can look forward to situations that they can truly relate to
whether they are a bride-to-be or just getting back on the market."
Host Roger Lodge has been with "Blind Date" from the
beginning and has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to dealing with the
trials and tribulations of relationships. Roger continues to lend his
expertise and comedic wit when analyzing these new and fresh dating
situations.
Since its debut in 1999, "Blind Date" has built a broad
national audience by blending its clever commentary, charismatic host and
attractive, fun, and sometimes wacky singles to make the most entertaining
half-hour of programming in syndication.
The 30-minute series is hosted by Roger Lodge, and is executive
produced by Gold Coast Television Entertainment's David Garfinkle and Jay
Renfroe. Thomas Klein also serves as executive producer and Rob Dames and
