American Idol Ads Make TV History  9/14/05

Talent show American Idol will make US TV history when the show's fifth season airs in January (06) - it will become the most expensive show ever.

Advertisers hoping to air commercials during the breaks on the show will have to pay upwards of $700,000 for a 30 second spot in the Wednesday night elimination show; and $660,000  for a spot during the Tuesday night performance show.

By comparison, companies looking to air ads during the commercial breaks in Desperate Housewives will have to pay $560,000 for the same ad timeframe.
