COMPETITION HEATS UP AS REMAINING SIX FINALISTS PERFORM
Two More Finalists to be Eliminated Wednesday, Sept. 28, on FOX
When America’s vote was revealed last night, Artem Chigvintsev and
Melissa Vella were eliminated from the competition on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN
DANCE. In the partner dance round, Artem performed the fox trot and the
cha-cha with Ashle Dawson, while Melissa performed a hip-hop routine and
the paso doble with Jamile McGee. Tune in next week to see who dances on,
and who goes home Wednesday, Sept. 28 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
Chigvintsev is originally from Russia and currently lives in Palo Alto,
CA. He has a ballroom dance background and works as an instructor. His
favorite professional dancers are Mikhail Baryshnikov and Rudolf Nureyev.
Judge/choreographer Brian Friedman said, “Your fox trot is the smoothest
I’ve seen yet.”
Vella is originally from Springfield, PA. She currently works as a
dance instructor at McHenry Dance Centre and has studied ballet, tap,
jazz, lyrical, modern and hip-hop. She considers jazz and hip-hop her
personal dance style. Last week, judge Nigel Lythgoe said of Melissa’s
performance, “Your hip-hop was unique and original – fantastic.”
