Missy Elliot Still in Pain After Surgery  9/28/05

Hip-hop star Missy Elliot is happy to announce her surgery to repair Achilles tendon damage has gone well - but she's still in dire pain. The rapper went under the knife for two and a half hours at a private New York City hospital on Wednesday (21SEP05), after sustaining the injury during a rehearsal for an Emmy Awards after-party.  The star is now at home recuperating, and doctors have informed her that her rehabilitation could take six to 12 months. 

She says in a statement, "Tearing your Achilles is no joke. I can't even tell you how much pain I'm in, but I'm happy the surgery went well, and I want to thank everyone for their concern." 

Elliott's injury forced her to back out of a scheduled appearance at VH1's recent Hip Hop Honors as well as a 10 October (05) show in London. However, she still plans to perform at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom on 8 October (05).
