Laguna Beach Season One DVD Review  9/11/06

Laguna Beach Season One is an easy purchase decision for fans of the MTV reality-drama.  If you have been with the show from the start, you will love reliving the episodes in which Lo, Kristin, LC, Stephen, Talan and the rest first opened their lives to the cameras.  If you joined later in the series, you’ll discover the background that will answer all your questions.  Highlights include the senior trip to Cabo, lavish birthday bashes, and Christina’s audition for a Broadway show.  The love triangle among LC, Stephen and Kristin is a focal point of the season.

The camera follows eight very privileged teenagers through their everyday lives, allowing the drama to unfold naturally.  Most of the kids are seniors in high school, poised on the brink of the “real” world.  Set in such opulent surroundings, their experiences initially seem so different from those of the average teen.  After awhile, however, it becomes clear that their inner feelings, needs, desires are not so different after all.

There is even an extra, BONUS disc that is absolutely loaded with additional features, including never before seen footage, music videos, a tour of LC’s colossal new mansion (that was under construction at the time of filming), and other featurettes.  Deleted scenes included on the DVD include Trey’s argument with a midget and the technical glitch that got Morgan accepted to BYU.  Fans will love every minute, and those new to the show will become addicted.
