Suspect Arrested in Jennifer Lopez Film Murders  9/14/06

Jennifer Lopez is celebrating after learning that a leading suspect in the murders her new film Bordertown revolves around has been arrested.

The singer/actress learned of the arrest of a key suspect, in what have been dubbed the maquiladoras murders, on the red carpet at the premiere of her new movie on Tuesday night (12SEP06).

Lopez plays a journalist investigating the rapes and murders of factory workers in Cuidad Jarez, Mexico, which have rocked the city since 1993.

Upon hearing the news, a thrilled Lopez said, "This movie has been very topical for a long time. This is has been going on for many, many years and it's also one of the reasons I wanted to make this movie.

"It's such an important story and I just felt this is some way I can bring life to this story. I'm really interested to find out what happened. I had no idea there had been an arrest."
