Orlando Bloom Realizes Drumming Dreams With Sheila E  9/15/06

Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom drummed up a storm as a guest of US TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres when he realized a percussion dream with Prince's famous rhythm girl Shelia E.

Bloom confessed he'd always wanted to learn to play the bongos after taking basic drumming lessons as a kid, and DeGeneres went out of her way to make his dream come true.

The British actors revealed, "It's something you can bring around with you, you can take to the beach and sort of entertain people and I have a bit of a base in percussion."

And, after handing the actor a handful of books about mastering the bongos, DeGeneres set up Bloom's first lesson with Sheila E.

The drummer told Bloom to "play from your heart" after he confessed he couldn't read music. The actor then joined Sheila E and DeGeneres for a bongo jam, before the percussionist gave him her own personal drums as a gift to learn on.

She joked, "I would love for you to play my bongos."
