Anna Nicole Smith's Ex Discovered Baby Name Online  9/19/06

The man claiming to be the father of Anna Nicole Smith's newborn baby daughter is upset he wasn't consulted about the naming of the couple's child.

Photojournalist Larry Birkhead learned the infant will be called Hannah after reading the latest gossip surrounding his ex on the internet.

He says, "I saw that the baby's name was Hannah. I think it's a beautiful name; I was just shocked that that's the way I had to find out.

"Everything (else) I've learned, I've had to stay glued to a television. It's kind of not the way it should go down."

Birkhead, who has not been officially acknowledged as the baby's father, admits he's disappointed he wasn't included at the birth on 8 September (06).

He hoped a last-minute phone call from his ex would ask him to jet to the Bahamas to be at her bedside for the labour.

He adds, "I was hopeful down to the wire that the last minute I'd be hopping a plane somewhere and I would get to witness the birth but it didn't happen."

And now Birkhead fears his ex chose to give birth to her baby in the Bahamas to make it tough for him to seek custody.

He explains, "The reason I was told that she went to the Bahamas was if a baby is born in the Bahamas and a mother is a resident of the Bahamas I think it would be a little harder for a father who was wanting to participate in the baby's life to be able to do so."
