George Clooney Boosts Sex Toy Sales 9/18/08

George Clooney has boosted the sales of sex toys in U.S. stores after playing a sex-obsessed character in his latest movie Burn After Reading.

The actor stars in the new Coen brothers comedy alongside pal Brad Pitt, and play a sex addict who carries around the saucy items. And sex toy retailers have noted a huge leap in sales since the film was released earlier this month (Sep08).

A retailer tells New York gossip column PageSix, "Small mentions of adult products in mainstream media can have an outsized effect on sales."
