Shia LaBeouf Tried To Dupe Agent With Phone Routine 9/28/08

Shia LaBeouf won his start in acting after trying to convince his agent he was the manager of a 10-year-old British actor who was looking for work in Hollywood.

The actor was 10 at the time and desperate to earn the type of money acting pals made from commercials and appearances on TV shows, and he used the Yellow Pages phone directory to find a rep.

The woman who eventually took him on, and still works as his agent, knew she was talking to a young boy, but she was so impressed with his effort, she invited him to an audition.

He says, "She thought, 'You've got to be a bold person to do something like that.' They asked me to come in and I read a Burger King commercial, and she (agent) said, 'Good to go.'"
