native Ryan Cabrera.His hobby
turned into his passion in high school after hearing Dave Matthews, causing Ryan
to leave his punk band Caine and try his hand at acoustic guitar.It was a perfect match, and his new group Rubic’s Groove quickly rose
in popularity in the
Dallas
area, leading to performances with Cheap Trick, Ben Harper and Third Eye Blind.
Cabrera received a block of studio time as a birthday
gift from his brother, impressing the engineer so much with his three original
cuts that he earned himself the opportunity to do a full-length, at no charge.The resulting Elm Street
was a local success with fans and critics, and sold extremely well on the
Internet as well.In 2001 Cabrera
signed with
Atlantic
, releasing Take It All Away in 2004.You Stand Watching came out in 2005, featuring the single Shine
On.The same year MTV signed
